Outdoor Renovations/Residential Landscaping
Turn wasted outdoor space into somewhere you actually want to spend time
Got outdoor space that’s doing nothing for you? Maybe it’s tired, overgrown, or just never worked properly — and it’s dragging down your home’s street appeal. Renovating any outdoor area can feel overwhelming when you’re juggling tradies, materials, drainage, and council requirements all at once.
Designing your outdoors is a different game from designing interiors. You’re dealing with weather exposure, slope and terrain, soil conditions, and plant selection that actually suits Auckland’s climate. A well-planned outdoor space gives you room to breathe, host, and extend your usable living area — effectively adding another room to your home without the walls.
At Superior Renovations we handle the full landscaping renovation — from our in-house designer who specialises in outdoor spaces, through to coordinating every trade needed to get the job done, sourcing materials from our supplier network and assigning a project manager to keep everything on track from start to finish.

COMMON REASONS TO RENOVATE YOUR OUTDOORS
Redesign, Remodel, or Rebuild
OUTDATED OUTDOORS
If the outside of your home looks worn out, dated, or is falling apart, a renovation can make an immediate difference. Updating the deck, laying new paving, rethinking the planting, or adding proper outdoor lighting turns a neglected backyard into a space you’ll actually use — and one your neighbours will notice.
UTILISING UNUSED SPACE
Most Auckland homes have dead space outside — a narrow side yard, an awkward slope, or a balcony that collects washing and cobwebs. With decent planning, these areas become usable. A built-in bench seat along that side passage, terraced planting on a slope, or a proper dining setup on the balcony — it’s about getting more from the section you already own.
ADDED VALUE TO ASSET
A well-done outdoor renovation lifts your property’s value. Buyers notice outdoor living — especially in Auckland where you can use it for most of the year. Quality materials and thoughtful design make the whole property feel more considered. When it’s time to sell, that sort of work shows up in the sale price and in how quickly offers come in.
IMPROVE INDOOR/OUTDOOR FLOW
If your lounge or kitchen feels cut off from the garden, something’s not right. Wide-opening aluminium joinery, a covered patio that extends the living room, or an outdoor kitchen that lines up with the indoor one — these changes blur the boundary between inside and out. In Auckland’s climate, that connection matters.
INCREASE LIVING SPACE
Your outdoor area is extra square metres waiting to be claimed. Add a pool, a fire pit area, or a proper dining zone under louvres and you’ve given your family room to spread out. It’s often more cost-effective than building an extension — and in Auckland’s summers, you’ll use it just as much.
FOR ENTERTAINING
If you’re the sort of household that has people over regularly, your outdoor space needs to work for it. A built-in BBQ setup, bar area, comfortable seating and decent lighting mean you can host properly — without dragging everything in and out of the kitchen every time.

6 Reasons Why Aucklander's Choose Superior Renovations
What makes us different to the rest?
1. DESIGN, RENOVATE AND PROJECT MANAGE
From the first on-site visit, through design, material selection, project coordination and right through to handover — we handle the whole process at every step so you can focus on the enjoyable part of watching your outdoors come together.
2. PERSONALISED PROJECTS
No two projects we take on are the same. We know that every client and every outdoor space is different — our internal systems and the way we manage operations let us adapt to whatever the site or the brief throws at us, without dropping the ball on quality or timelines.
3. RENOWN AND QUALIFIED PROFESSIONALS
Our recruitment and vetting process is strict — we only work with proven tradies and qualified specialists for every task. That includes partnering with industry-leading NZ suppliers, so the workmanship on your project meets the standards we’d want on our own homes.
4. 3 STAGE 147 POINT QUALITY ASSURANCE PROCESS
Workmanship is non-negotiable. Every project goes through our 147 point quality assurance checklist across 3 stages — checked by the team member, the team leader, and the project manager — before you do your own final sign-off.
5. WORKING WITH OUR HAND-PICKED SUPPLIERS
We’ve built long-standing relationships with suppliers and specialists who are genuine experts in their field and care about the end result. They deliver to high standards and share our approach to building. For you, that means reliable people doing quality work — every time.
6. YOUR EXPERIENCE IS WHAT DRIVES US
This is where Superior Renovations started — with the belief that every client is a story, not a transaction. Our systems, our processes, the way we run projects — all of it was built around making the renovation experience a good one. That focus on solid project management, rigorous quality checks, and putting the client first is still the foundation of how we work today.

WHAT IS INVOLVED IN RENOVATING AN OUTDOOR RENOVATION?
7 to 8+ different trades/specialties involved from start to end and one point of contact dedicated to you.
An outdoor renovation is a decent-sized project, but the payoff is real — better street appeal, a functional outdoor living area, and added property value. Here’s how the process works when you renovate your outdoors with us.
Consultation
Step One
We start by meeting you on-site to talk through what you want from your outdoor space. We’ll listen to your ideas, share what we think will work (and what won’t), and put together a plan that fits your brief and your budget. Our team will also assess what your property’s working with — terrain, existing planting, sun exposure, drainage.
Concept Design
Step Two
From that first meeting, our team puts together a concept design that brings your ideas into something visual — including 3D imagery so you can see what the finished space will actually look like. Once that concept is locked in, we develop detailed plans covering all materials for decking, pergolas, fencing, paving, planting, and any other features. A final quote comes with this stage.
Choosing materials/supplies
Step Three
This is where you pick the materials for your outdoor renovation — decking timber, pergola specifications, fencing style, driveway surface, paving, plants, and landscaping finishes.
Manufacturing and Ordering
Step Four
Once design and materials are confirmed, we order everything, arrange any custom manufacturing, and handle permit applications. If Auckland Council consent is needed, we deal with the paperwork and documentation.
Demolition and preparation
Step Five
Old landscaping, structures, and features come out and get disposed of. Once the site is cleared, we carry out any necessary repairs and prep work before construction begins. Our team makes sure all permits are sorted and proper safety measures are in place to protect your property and the surrounding area.
Construction and Installation
Step Six
With the site prepped and ready, our team gets stuck in. We use quality materials and proper equipment, and your project manager keeps you updated throughout — managing deliveries, coordinating tradies, and keeping the timeline on track. We keep disruption to your daily life as minimal as we can.
Final Touches
Step Seven
Once the major construction is done, we move to finishing — planting, lighting, electrical work, and any decorative details that complete the design.
Inspection/Quality Checks
Step Eight
Your project manager runs through the final inspection and addresses anything that needs adjusting before your sign-off. This is when you receive all handover documentation — warranties, compliance certificates, and guarantees.
Enjoying Your Outdoor Space
Final Step
A professional clean is booked in so the space is ready for you to use straight away. We’ll also hand over a maintenance plan and care guide so you know what to keep on top of to make sure your outdoor space stays looking good for years to come.

“””For me personally, I thought the process from start to finish was actually pretty seamless. We both worked from home three days a week, living in a renovation and essentially working in a renovation to some degree. Obviously, we could hear the renovation happening; you can’t take that away. We weren’t really disturbed by anything else from the renovation unless a question needed to be asked, such as having the power or water turned off. But in terms of day-to-day operations, it was absolutely great, with no problems at all””

“I’m so glad I went for it, I don’t even want to leave my house, I’m going to retire in this place, it’s perfect! On Saturday I had my first visitors and their reaction was amazing! My experience with Superior Renovations is that they delivered on time and they delivered on budget – it couldn’t have been any better.
Last thing I would want is to be stuck in a half done house for Christmas and Superior Renovations did not disappoint, they delivered 1 week before Christmas just as they promised”

Full House Renovation
“It now feels like a big, simple, inspiring space, whereas before it was a big space but it was very dated and there was a lot of distractions around – now it’s quite a nice clean, modern, minimalist feel to it. It felt like before, it was a 1980’s home, but now when you walk in, the house is impressive, it’s a lovely space to be in, it feels impressive and everyone who comes here are impressed and enjoys it – but it still feels like a home..”

“Working with Kevin and the team was easy because we weren’t having to ring up different suppliers ourselves, it was like one team does this, another team does that – and everything was done for us under one roof. Kevin had a contact for everything, and the experience was simple. You hear a lot of horror stories about doing renovations and I was like, well that was very easy…”
