How We Work With You — Our Renovation Process
Every renovation we run follows the same eight stages, with one dedicated project manager from start to finish. You’ll know the price, the timeline and exactly what’s included before any work starts. We’ve refined this process over 1,000+ Auckland renovations — here’s what happens at each stage, and who you’ll be dealing with.

First Contact
Call us on 0800 199 888 or fill in the form on our contact page, and someone from our office will call you back within one working day. This first chat isn’t a sales pitch — it’s how we match you with the right renovation consultant for your type of project.
Still at the “roughly what would this cost?” stage? Start with our cost estimate tools before you call — you’ll turn up to the conversation with realistic numbers.
Your Free In-Home Consultation
A renovation consultant visits your home at a time that suits. Bring everyone who gets a say in the renovation. Decisions made with half the household present have a habit of being re-litigated three weeks later.
- We listen first — what you want, why, when, and your budget. Your proposal is built from this conversation, not a template.
- Straight advice — if something you want is a bad idea for your house, we’ll say so now, not after you’ve signed.
- Proper measurements — measuring right on the first visit is what makes a fixed price possible.
- Timing and finance — including the finance options our clients use.

Visit Our Showroom & Design Studio
Our renovation showroom at 16b Link Drive, Wairau Valley is where your ideas stop being Pinterest screenshots. See full bathroom and kitchen displays built by the same teams who’ll build yours, and work through layouts, materials and finishes with our in-house designers.
Our designers aren’t showroom staff working to a sales target — they produce the 3D renders, spatial plans and specifications your project will be built from. Can’t get to Wairau Valley? The design consultation can happen at your home instead.
Your Fixed-Price Proposal
Within a few days of your consultation, you’ll receive a proposal. This is not a one-line quote — it’s the complete plan for your renovation:
- A fixed price built from your measurements and real costs from comparable completed projects. The only thing that changes it is something genuinely unforeseen — and any variation is costed and approved by you in writing first.
- Scope and specifications — everything included, item by item.
- A project timeline with start dates and a completion date.
- Concept designs and your supplier list, matched to your chosen range.
No deposit, no obligation. Compare it, and ask us hard questions — our guide on how to compare renovation companies tells you exactly what to grill us (and everyone else) on.

Choosing Your Fittings
Accept the proposal and your designer will book visits with you at our design studio (Wairau Vallley Showroom) — to finalise flooring, tiles, bathroomware, appliances, paint and to go through all the specifications. Long-standing trade relationships mean trade pricing on the same products you’d otherwise buy at retail, and one point of accountability if anything arrives damaged or late.
Prefer to supply some items yourself? You can — we’ll just tell you honestly which items are worth buying through us based on our experience and which genuinely don’t matter.
Pre-Construction Planning
This is the stage most renovation horror stories skip — and where your project is actually won. Before anyone lifts a tool:
- Your dedicated project manager takes over as your single point of contact. One person. One phone number.
- Every trade is scheduled in sequence — a typical house renovation involves 20+ trades, and the difference between a 10-week job and a 16-week one is almost always scheduling.
- Consents are managed — we handle the Auckland Council process, working with Sonder Architecture, our sister practice, for structural and architectural scope.
- Contracts and your milestone payment schedule are signed — you always know what’s due and when.

Your Renovation, Underway
Day one starts with a site debrief — your project manager introduces the teams and sets the site up properly. Then the routine settles in:
- Progress updates from your project manager — never left wondering what happened on site this week.
- On-site supervision keeping trades to the timeline and our standards, with health and safety enforced every day.
- 147+ Point Quality Assurance running throughout the build — work is signed off internally before it’s ever presented to you.
- Variations in writing — costed, approved by you, then actioned. Nothing “sorted out later.”
Most of our clients live at home through the renovation — safe access is planned for, not improvised.
Handover & Aftercare
When the work is done and the site is cleaned, your project manager runs the final 147+ point check, then walks the finished spaces with you and your family. Anything you’re not happy with gets fixed before sign-off — that’s the point of the walkthrough.
You’ll receive your handover pack: workmanship warranty, product guarantees, and the compliance certificates your project required — waterproofing (PS3), electrical and gas fitting where applicable. The detail is on Our Promise.
Then, about a month after completion, we call you — not to sell you anything, but to check how the spaces are working now you’re living in them. You keep your project manager’s number, and our door in Rosedale stays open.

Common Questions About Our Process
How long does a renovation take?
It depends on scope: a bathroom renovation typically runs a few weeks, a kitchen slightly longer, and a full house renovation several months. Because we run specialist teams for each trade rather than one crew doing everything in sequence, our timelines are shorter than the Auckland norm. Your proposal includes a project-specific timeline with a completion date before you commit.
Is the price really fixed?
Yes. Your proposal price is built from on-site measurements, your chosen materials and real costs from comparable completed projects. It only changes in two situations: you request a change mid-project, or we uncover something genuinely unforeseen like rot or non-compliant old work behind a wall. Either way, the variation is costed and approved by you in writing before any extra work happens.
Do I need to move out during the renovation?
Usually not. Most of our clients live at home through bathroom, kitchen and partial renovations — we plan safe access, dust protection and working facilities around your household. For full house renovations, moving out is often more comfortable and can shorten the timeline; we'll give you an honest recommendation for your specific project at the consultation.
Do you handle council consents?
Yes. Where your renovation needs building consent — structural changes, extensions, recladding, some plumbing and drainage work — we manage the Auckland Council process as part of the project. For architectural and structural design work we partner with Sonder Architecture, our sister design practice.
Can I supply my own fittings and appliances?
Yes, and plenty of clients do for specific items. We'll install client-supplied products without fuss, and tell you honestly which items are better bought through our suppliers — usually where trade pricing, delivery logistics or warranty support during the build make a real difference.
How do payments work?
Through a progress payment schedule set out in your contract before work starts — payments tied to defined project milestones, so you always know what's due and when. You pay one company for the entire project rather than juggling invoices from multiple trades. Finance options are also available through our partners — see our finance page for details.
