The kitchen is built around a central island with a timber-clad end and a white stone top, seated with three upholstered bar stools so it works for cooking and casual company alike. A second bench runs along the wall carrying the gas cooktop and a built-in oven, and a doorway leads through to a separate scullery that keeps small appliances, extra storage and a second sink out of sight of the main room. Wood-look flooring runs through the kitchen and into the dining area, where a rustic timber table anchors the open-plan space.
Materials and finishes
The finishes are what give this kitchen its character. Handleless gloss fronts keep the cabinetry clean and easy to wipe down, the timber-look upper cabinets add warmth against all that white, and a pale glass splashback behind the cooktop reflects light without the grout lines of tiled work.
