THINKING OF RENOVATING YOUR KITCHEN?
With so many options, not sure where to start?
A well-designed kitchen makes daily life easier — it’s where you cook, eat, catch up, and spend more time than any other room. If yours isn’t working, a kitchen renovation in Auckland changes how the whole house feels.
If you’re looking to sell, the kitchen matters more than almost any other room. Buyers walk straight to it. A dated kitchen puts people off; a well-renovated one pulls them in. It’s one of the first things the media and property stylists focus on, and for good reason — the kitchen sets the tone for the entire home.

The kitchen cops more daily use — and more wear and tear — than any other room in an Auckland home. That alone is reason enough to renovate. Add in the value it puts back into your property, and it makes good sense. But a kitchen renovation in Auckland can get stressful fast if the planning and coordination aren’t right.
At Superior Renovations we run full kitchen renovations for Auckland homes, from the first design conversation through to the final clean. Our products are locally sourced and meet strict New Zealand and international quality standards.
Every kitchen we renovate has a dedicated project manager, so you’re part of the process at every stage. Our designers, builders, and installers are all focused on delivering solid workmanship and a good experience.
One thing worth knowing: we focus on larger kitchen projects. If you’re just swapping cabinetry doors or installing a new oven, we’re probably not the right fit. We’re built for full kitchen remodels — pulling the whole thing out and starting fresh, or redesigning the layout from scratch.
Consider your floor plans before renovating your kitchen
U shaped: Cabinets and benchtops on three walls — gives you plenty of storage and work space.
L shaped: Works well in both small and large kitchens. Two walls of cabinetry, with the third wall free for a fridge or a corner island.
Island kitchens: Best suited to larger spaces. The island becomes the centrepiece — add bar stools and it doubles as an eating area.
Galleys: Two parallel walls with work stations and storage. Ideal for smaller kitchens or apartments where space is tight.

WHAT IS INVOLVED IN RENOVATING A KITCHEN?
7 to 8+ different trades/specialties involved from start to end and one point of contact dedicated to you.
A kitchen renovation is a decent-sized project, but the result — a better daily living space, more functionality, and added property value — makes it worth doing properly. Here’s the general process for how we renovate a kitchen.
Note: The specific steps and their order may vary depending on your project’s scope and whether council consent is required. We always recommend a conversation with our team to get advice specific to your situation.
Consultation
Step One
Before anything starts, we meet with you on-site to understand what you want from your kitchen, set a realistic budget, and work out the scope together. We’ll talk through priorities and what matters most to you.
Design Process
Step Two
You’ll work with our designer at our Wairau Valley showroom to develop the kitchen layout, style, and functionality. This includes generating a 3D design so you can see what the finished kitchen will look like before any work begins.
Choosing materials/hardware
Step Three
Pick the materials for your renovation — benchtops, splashback, flooring, hardware, appliances, lighting, and cabinetry. We’ll help you weigh up durability, style, and budget.
Manufacturing and Ordering
Step Four
Once the design is locked in, it goes to our manufacturing team. All materials, hardware, and fittings are ordered, and your cabinetry is booked into the manufacturing schedule.
Demolition and preparation
Step Five
Old cabinets, flooring, GIB, benchtop, and appliances come out. Once the area is cleared, repairs and prep work are done before installation begins. Electrical and plumbing work is completed at this stage according to the design plan.
Installation
Step Six
Once the site is prepped, cabinet delivery is timed to line up with installation. This stage covers new cabinetry, benchtops, splashback, appliances, and flooring going in.
Final Touches
Step Seven
With the major components installed, we move to finishing — painting, plastering, lighting, shelving, hardware, and any decorative details to complete the design.
Inspection/Quality Checks
Step Eight
Your project manager runs through the final inspection and makes any adjustments before your sign-off. This is when you receive all handover documentation — warranties, compliance certificates, and guarantees.
Enjoying Your New Kitchen
Final Step
A professional clean is booked in to get everything looking sharp — then it’s yours to use.

Frequently Asked Questions
Common Questions
How do I prepare for a kitchen renovation in Auckland?
Start by pulling together ideas, designs, and notes into a scrapbook — physical or digital. Collect images of kitchens you like and write down what matters most to you. Make a list of the appliances you want built into the new kitchen, including model numbers so we can find exact dimensions online. Your new cabinetry needs to fit around these, whether they're brand new or carried over from your current kitchen.
Do I have to organise sub contract specialist trades such as plumbers or electricians for my kitchen renovation in Auckland?
No — we have all trades covered. Our team of trusted tradies understand how we work, follow our processes, and coordinate with the rest of the crew to keep things running smoothly. You engage one company — us — and we handle the lot from start to finish.
Will I have a choice of fixtures and fittings and can I supply them myself for my kitchen renovation in Auckland?
Absolutely. If you want to purchase items directly and supply them for installation at the right stage, that's fine by us. That said, we generally recommend using our suppliers — we're confident in the quality, we can manage logistics and trade pricing, and if anything needs troubleshooting during the build, it's quicker to sort when we have a direct relationship with the supplier.
How long does a kitchen renovation take in Auckland?
A typical kitchen renovation takes around 5–6 weeks from demolition day, assuming the design is finalised and parts have been manufactured. Splashbacks add a bit of extra time for manufacturing. Factors like council consent or custom elements can extend the timeline.
How much does a kitchen renovation cost in Auckland?
The average sits between $18,000 and $26,000, depending on materials, layout, design complexity, and whether consent is needed. We provide detailed, itemised quotes so you know exactly where the money goes.
How do you pay for a kitchen renovation project in Auckland?
Payment is structured on a progress basis as set out in your building agreement. One advantage of a full contract is you only make payments to one company, at specific stages of the project. When you receive your written quote from us, it comes with a payment schedule and a construction timeline so you know what to expect and when.
Which Auckland suburbs do you serve for kitchen renovations?
We work right across Auckland — Remuera, Ponsonby, Grey Lynn, Mt Eden, Epsom, Parnell, Herne Bay, St Heliers, Takapuna, Devonport, Albany, Howick, Pakuranga, Henderson, New Lynn, Manukau, Papatoetoe, and plenty more. North Shore, West Auckland, South Auckland, East Auckland, or the CBD — we cover it.
What are the latest trends in kitchen renovations in Auckland?
Open-plan layouts remain popular, along with recycled timber, smart appliances, matte finishes, and strong indoor-outdoor connection — which suits how Aucklanders live. Island benches, hidden storage solutions, and energy-efficient lighting are all common choices. We bring current ideas into your project where they make sense for your space and budget.
Do I need council consent for a kitchen renovation in Auckland?
For most kitchen renovations, consent isn't required — provided you're not altering the structure or making major plumbing and electrical changes. If your project involves moving walls, changing load-bearing elements, or significant services work, Auckland Council consent may be needed. We handle all consent applications if required.
Why choose Superior Renovations for your kitchen renovation in Auckland?
Over 10 years of kitchen renovations across Auckland, with qualified builders, in-house designers, and NZ-made cabinetry. We complete projects on time and on budget. Our clients consistently mention the communication and the fact that we handle everything under one roof — that's a big part of why people choose us and come back for more.
